The Solo Founder Toolkit: How Base44 Bootstrapped to an $80M Exit in 6 Months
The 10-Strategy Growth Playbook Base44’s Founder Followed + A Proven Public-Launch Pack + The Full AI Automation Stack to Offload Repetitive Work.
Hey everybody, welcome back to Product Market Fit 🚀🚀
Last week, while putting together the YC F25 “Requests for Startups,” one line stuck with me: the call for “the first 10-person, $100B company.”
YC believes small, high-agency teams, even solo founders, can build multi-billion dollar companies.
That had me thinking about solo founders all week, so I revisited Lenny’s episode with Base44’s founder Maor Shlomo.
Six months. One founder. An $80M acquisition by Wix.
Base44 is an AI app builder that lets anyone describe an idea in plain language and get a working full-stack app, part of the fast-rising “vibe coding” wave where prompting replaces most hand-coding.
Maor Shlomo bootstrapped the company, stayed profitable, and grew to hundreds of thousands of users with a tiny team before selling it to Wix in June.
What’s inside today’s newsletter:
The 10-strategy growth playbook Base44’s solo founder used to reach an $80M exit to Wix in six months without external funding.
A complete public-launch pack.
Featuring Dawson Chen’s (CEO of Martin, YC S23) guide for successfully launching in Product Hunt, Hacker News, LinkedIn, and Twitter, plus a
database of 500+ places to promote your startup without big ad spend.
The full automation stack, super useful for solo founders.
It includes a curated GitHub repo of awesome LLM apps you can run or adapt, and another repo with 2,000+ n8n agentic workflows to automate repetitive tasks, so you can stay focused on what matters.
Let’s walk through the 10 strategies that powered the $80M exit.
