236 companies got into YC’s Summer 2026 batch. 151 of them (64%) are AI-native, with agents alone accounting for 52 companies (22%).

We analyzed all 236, sector by sector, and pulled out where founders piled in, where the real white space opened (Industrials jumped from 12.8% to 23.7% of the batch), and the handful of companies building AI-native replacements for entire regulated industries.

This is the map, so you can pick your lane before demo day tells you it’s already taken.

In this guide you’ll find:

01. The batch by the numbers: 236 companies, 64% AI-native, and the Industrials surge nobody’s talking about

02. The crowded default: 89 companies packed into agents and AI infra, and what that means for you

03. Own the P&L, not the tool: the AI-native companies replacing whole regulated incumbents

04. Atoms are back: how robotics and defense hard tech took over the batch’s fastest-growing slice

05. What Summer 2026 tells founders to build (and where it’s already too late)
