Peter Thiel co-founded PayPal.

He wrote Zero to One, one of the most quoted startup books ever printed.

He wrote the first outside check into Facebook, turning $500,000 into more than a billion dollars and backed the founders who built Palantir and SpaceX.

Across two decades of doing this from both sides of the table, as a founder and then as an investor, he has said almost nothing in public about what actually makes a pitch work.

Except once. Running Founders Fund, he sat down and wrote an example deck himself. An actual slide-by-slide pitch, built around a fictional weight-loss scale called SOMA, with every rule he thinks a fundraising story should follow baked directly into it.

It’s dated 2012. The company inside it never existed. And founders still pass it around today, even though the logic underneath it never expired.

📚 I went through all eleven slides, flagged exactly where a 2026 investor would stop reading and built the fix for each one directly into a prompt: hand it to Claude and get a ready, Thiel-style pitch deck with every one of those fixes already built in.
